"I grew up on the North Shore of Oʻahu in the 90s. My two best friends, Moana and Kristen, and I would have sleepovers and stay up late reading from Glen Grant’s 'Obake Ghost Stories' and 'Chicken Skin Tales.' Kristen’s black cat Ebony would come charging into her bedroom with wide glossy eyes and meow at us almost as if on cue to freak us out more. We would sneak into Haleʻiwa Elementary School at night to sit at the base of a large tree to try to communicate with the spirits. Only once did we try to use an Ouija board and we were very quick to end it as we knew it was kapu and we did not want to actually wake any evil spirits. Between the books and our own scary stories passed down from siblings and friends, we were rich with frightful accounts which we would tell each other using flashlights under our chins. So many of my memories are wrapped up in the genres of thriller, horror, and supernatural content and this play has helped me to voyage into a genre I never knew I could write. I equally love and have a healthy fear of the supernatural and I hope this play can awaken the same in you."

"When I turned 12, I had a bat mitzvah that was all R.L. Stine themed. My dad and step mom run an entertainment agency and they even got a hearse parked in front of the venue. I had all the Goosebumps books and a bunch of Fear Street as well. My mom, being in the medical field, would tell me, ‘we’re dying everyday.’ A morbid truth that I never want to face. Like a deer in headlights, I freeze when it comes to fear. My brain freezes when she tells me these things. When directing this play I wanted to make sure that we all felt safe within the horror and the spooky. Especially because we have actors in many time zones. I believe in energy and believe that bad energy can linger in places and you need a lot of good energy to counteract it. Because of that we made sure our energy at the end of every rehearsal is balanced, by always saying ‘good-bye’ to the Kasha. I think as long as we say good-bye, we’ll be fine."
